* the prayer

a week after working in DSTCom, i met a woman who is under the same supervisor as i am.. we were assigned to the M-Vision assignment together and upon seeing how we both hit it off really well, our supervisor assigned us on the Survey team..anyway, her name is Chip (her real name is shit long), but shes as cute as a chipmunk...at first glance, u think, she must be un-married, late-twenties - tops...cause she has the face of a Ribena Advert child; always smiley and cheery,and im taller than her..so imagine my shock when i find out shes actually 35yrs old, married and has two kids...

one afternoon, she let me skip work by bringing me out of the office under the pretence that we were going to do research for the Survey assignment..but we ended up in my old workplace,FoodZone, eating dim-sum and swapping life stories...

she claims that she sees a lot of her young-self in me, and as she told me about her youth, i realized that it was the truth..she and i share the same characteristics, the same views, the same way of handling things,even have similar habits...except she has an advantage..the advantage of experience...

without realizing, i found myself opening up to her, asking her advice about some things, but without giving her the personal details..just "what would you do in this situation" type questions...

and she answered from her own personal experience..what i learnt from Chip that day, on the ride home, in her red Rav-4, is that, we dont really know whats coming..so we can't live today thinking this is how life is going to be tommorow,or the day after that, or for the rest of your life..she taught me that if youre not happy with something today, change it tommorow..

i confided in her about my run of bad luck in relationships and she smiled at me and said six very simple words.
"the next one will be better"

with every guy that comes along and bruises you, you add on to the lists of what you want, and what to avoid...of what to expect and what not to tolerate...

and she taught me self-worth...if you have given someone the chance to make you happy, and you've done everything in your power to show them that YOU can make THEM happy, but they throw that chance away, either by not offering back what you've offered, or picking someone else over you, then know that he isnt worth it..and that you deserve someone better..and that he isnt the last of the available guys out there, because someone else will come along...and all you can do now is pray, that he would be better than the last one...

you need to have the strength to say to yourself "okay, i dont need to deal with this, i deserve better, i WILL find better"...to be able to think that it was HIS loss that he didnt make you his choice,not YOUR loss that you werent able to make him choose you... because there will be others who will see what the last one didnt...

so please god, i pray that the next one will be better..the next one will teach me more lessons, and show me happiness in a new way that the ones in the past failed to do..the next one will see what is offered, what is willing to be given, and given the chance, what will make him happy...
