u can find strength in friends... a good friend said to me, when we were staring at the sky while the clock struck midnight and it was a new year, that if 2005 taught him anything, it was the true meaning of friendship. all the shit we had to go through, we went through it together.
each friendship has had their share of challenges. rise up and meet the challenge head on, or scurry away like chickens? ive seen my share of friendships breaking down, and my share of friends shining. and on Tuesday, im proud to say ive seen certain friends shine.
a very close friend of mine was in need of extensive emotional support, and i was proud of the certain individuals that dropped what they were doing to rush in her aid. yea sure, me and her havent had a proper conversation in months, but the strength of our friendship came flooding back as i was dialling her number from memory to ask what had happened.. it didnt matter that i was up to my eyeballs in work and i didnt bring the car that day.. did everything so i could be by her side in her time of need.. her family was like my own, her parents the sweetest people ive had the fortune of knowing.. seeing them all suffer was almost too much to bear...
Girl, its times like these that we (your friends) have no way in helping the situation, but we'll do what we do best.. and thats being your comic relief.. we hope we eased a little of the pain you feel by giving you chances to forget for a few moments and laugh at our lame jokes.. we hope our presence there reminded you that you are certainly not alone.. we'll help in any way we can.. you and your family will be in our prayers..
if strength was liquid, let us pour out a round, clink glasses and cheer... drink up guys, we're gonna need it.
